Georgia Flag FAIR Vote Act - HB15
As most are aware the Georgia Flag FAIR Vote Act -
HB-15 did not fare well in the 2005 Legislature. Despite campaign
promises in the 2002 elections and a January Mason Dixon Poll that showed
79% of Georgians want a FAIR vote, the bill languished in committee.
Disregarding the campaign promises to the People of Georgia and the
obvious desires of a large majority of Georgians expressed and
documented by the Mason Dixon Poll - special interests prevailed.
Many ask, "What is going on?" The answer is sad, no it
is worse than sad. It is downright disgusting. Special interests
have more influence on this issue than the citizens of Georgia!
This is now a question of who will the State government of Georgia
represent - the citizens or special interests.
HB-15 was filed by Representative Tim Bearden and
was assigned to the House Governmental Affairs Committee. HB-15 used
wording that was written by House Speaker Glenn Richardson and
approved by Governor Sonny Perdue in 2003. All HB-15 proposes is to
fulfill the campaign promise of Sonny Perdue and is the same vote
that House Speaker Glenn Richardson called "good for Georgia."
Will special interests prevail? That my fellow
citizens is up to you the citizens. The Atlanta Chamber has publicly
bragged about having more influence than you, if you remain silent,
you are condoning this form of government.
In the Atlanta Chamber's own words:
The Metro Atlanta Chamber won about
three-fourths of its agenda, most critically
the flag. Given a new Governor and new
legislative leadership, this was a great achievement.
We urge you, your friends, family and all Georgians
to stand up now and let our voice be heard. There is something
American about letting the People Vote and it is time to demand this
basic American right - here in Georgia.
We have prepared and are making some tools available
for you - that will make it much easier to let the political
establishment here in Georgia hear from you. It is time from top to
bottom - that they understand what, "of the people, by the people and
for the people" means.

will help you get started..
